Los Angeles police are actively searching for 14-year-old Amoria Brown and her 3-week-old daughter, Omoria Brown, who have been missing since Sunday. According to a news release issued on August 26, the Los Angeles Police Department and the family of the missing individuals are calling for public assistance in locating them. Omoria has a heart condition that “requires daily medication,” adding urgency to the search.
Amoria and her daughter were last seen around 10 p.m. on August 25 in the East Los Angeles area. At that time, they were reportedly accompanied by Amoria’s 15-year-old sister-in-law, Sanaii Brown. The group was believed to be traveling to the “high desert area with family,” as stated in the release.
Since the release, Sanaii has been reunited with her family, according to NBC News. The police release included photos of Amoria and Omoria, along with a description of Amoria. She is described as being 5 feet, 4 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes, and weighing approximately 140 pounds. At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a multi-colored shirt, gray shorts, and gray sandals.
Amoria’s guardian, Raquel Brown, expressed concern and confusion over the situation. “It’s just a lot right now; trying to take it all in, trying to process it,” Raquel said. “I just want the baby to be okay. She’s not a bad mom. I’m not going to say that she’s bad. She’s young. I can’t just expect her to change overnight, so I do want to make that clear, but I’m here to help.”
Raquel added that Amoria had contacted her family to assure them that she and the baby were safe, but their exact whereabouts remain unknown. The search continues as authorities and loved ones hope for the safe return of the young mother and her infant daughter.
