A Georgia family is grieving the devastating loss of their 19-month-old son, Carson James Evans, who died in a tragic accident outside their home last week. The heartbreaking incident occurred on June 5, 2025, in the Clinton Crossing neighborhood in Gray, Georgia, as the child’s mother, Lauren Evans, was returning home.

According to authorities, Evans was pulling her 2019 GMC Acadia into the driveway just before 1 p.m. when her young son darted in front of the vehicle. The child had been outside with his father, and Evans reportedly did not see him as she approached.

“He was out of her line of sight,” Jones County Coroner Matthew Jarratt told The Macon Fox. “She couldn’t have seen him.” First responders arrived quickly at the scene, but tragically, Carson was pronounced dead on arrival. The accident has been ruled a heartbreaking tragedy, with officials confirming that no charges will be filed against Evans.

As the family begins to process their unimaginable loss, Evans shared an emotional tribute to her son on Facebook, posting heartfelt words along with photos of the smiling toddler. “It is with the heaviest hearts that we share the news of our baby boy, Carson James, passing away unexpectedly,” she wrote.

“At just 19 months and 3 days old, he brought immeasurable joy and light into our lives. His infectious laughter, bright eyes, bow legs, and sweet cuddles filled our days with love and happiness that no words can express.” Describing Carson as a “curious and adventurous little boy,” Evans said he shared a deep bond with his father and brother, always eager to be by their side.

“He touched so many lives in his short time with us, leaving an imprint on the hearts of everyone he met,” she added. “We are completely heartbroken and struggling to imagine life without his precious presence. His legacy is going to live on, and others’ lives will be changed in a positive way because of him.”

Friends and community members have since flooded the family’s social media with condolences and messages of support. “I am so sorry. My heart hurts so much for y’all,” one commenter wrote. “No parent should ever have to experience this. Praying for y’all.”

Another shared, “Lauren, Cody, and Tyson, we are so incredibly devastated to hear the news of sweet, rambunctious Carson. We love you all so much.” The community continues to rally around the Evans family as they mourn the heartbreaking loss of their beloved son.
