A source has confirmed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s former residence, Frogmore Cottage in the UK, continues to sit unoccupied since their relocation to the United States.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, now residing in California, have made no plans to return to their former royal abode. A Palace official affirmed this status quo, stating, “During the year, Frogmore Cottage has remained empty. I don’t think, at this point, I would speculate on who will be the future occupants of the cottage.”
There has been speculation about the future use of Frogmore Cottage, including reports that it might be taken over by Prince Andrew, the brother of King Charles. The official clarified, “The Sovereign Grant has been fully reimbursed for the refurbishment costs of Frogmore Cottage when it was initially provided to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, and therefore, there is no cost to the Sovereign Grant other than some routine maintenance, which would be required for any of the buildings.”
Frogmore Cottage, a historic residence located on the grounds of Windsor Castle, underwent renovations before Prince Harry and Meghan Markle moved in. The couple lived there briefly before their decision to step back from their royal duties and relocate to North America, according to The Independent.
The cottage holds significant sentimental value for the Sussexes, having been chosen as their residence during a pivotal time in their lives. Its future use remains uncertain, pending decisions from the royal family regarding its potential occupants or future arrangements.
As Prince Harry and Meghan Markle focus on their lives in the United States, Frogmore Cottage stands as a reminder of their past in the UK, a chapter that has closed as they pursue new endeavors and commitments overseas.
