King Charles’ Plan for Royal Lodge Hits Standoff as Prince Andrew Refuses to Move

King Charles is reportedly pressing ahead with new plans for the Royal Lodge, even as his brother Prince Andrew remains firm in his refusal to vacate the 30-room estate. The monarch has directed Andrew to leave the property, but the Duke of York is resisting, citing his long lease and ongoing repair responsibilities.

Recent reports reveal that Charles envisions Prince William, his wife Kate Middleton, and their three children moving into the Royal Lodge once Andrew vacates. Royal expert Michael Cole commented on the situation, saying, “It’s a bit of a standoff at the moment,” and added, “Meanwhile, the Prince and Princess of Wales would fit into Royal Lodge very happily with their three children.”

Cole further explained that King Charles has been attempting to convince his younger brother to relocate from Royal Lodge to Frogmore Cottage. “Prince Andrew is sticking fast. He is pointing out that he has a long lease and it’s a repairing lease. He’s responsible for the repairs, of which many are being made,” Cole told GB News.

The expert also highlighted why the Prince and Princess of Wales are seen as more deserving of the Lodge. “They are making do in Adelaide Cottage, which is not a particularly grand building, in Windsor Park,” Cole said. “Adelaide Cottage may have echoes of sunny Australia, but it is not a nice place in January or February.”

In addition to the ongoing conflict between Charles and Andrew, other royals are also eyeing the estate. According to sources, “Sophie and Edward are serious contenders to take this project on and do an excellent job,” as reported by OK! Magazine. The source added, “They’ve completely thrown a spanner into an already difficult situation, which is why Charles has had to come clean on his somewhat unpopular plan to house Camilla.”

As the standoff continues, the future of the Royal Lodge remains uncertain, with various members of the royal family vying for a resolution to the ongoing dispute.
