The royal family has made its first social media post since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle announced their unexpected decision to visit Colombia. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are set to undertake a four-day visit to the South American country later this summer, a move that has surprised royal experts given Harry’s recent concerns about his family’s safety in the UK.

The couple has been invited to Colombia by the country’s Vice President, Francia Marquez. Their visit comes amidst ongoing discussions about their security and the royal family’s public engagements, told The Mirror.

In a separate development, the royal family has also reached out with a touching tribute to Andy Murray, who recently announced his retirement from professional tennis following his defeat at the Paris Olympics. On behalf of King Charles and Queen Camilla, the palace extended its support and best wishes to Murray.

Wimbledon shared a heartfelt video of Murray on X, formerly known as Twitter, with the caption, “You changed the sport, by never changing yourself. To Andy, from the fans.” In response, the royal family expressed its sentiments with a simple heart emoji, acknowledging the significance of Murray’s contribution to the sport.

Murray announced his retirement “on my terms” after a distinguished career that concluded at the Paris Olympics on Thursday. The former world number one and three-time Grand Slam champion ended his career at the age of 37 following a loss in the men’s doubles quarter-finals at Roland Garros, marking the end of a notable chapter in tennis history.

The royal family’s gesture comes at a time of increased public interest in their engagements, particularly following Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent decisions. While the visit to Colombia has sparked discussions about their security and public image, the royal family’s tribute to Murray highlights their continued involvement in significant events and personal milestones within the realm of sports and beyond.
