King Charles may still be open to reconciling with Prince Harry, according to royal expert Jennie Bond. Despite ongoing tensions and recent revelations from Harry’s memoir Spare, Bond reveals that Charles has not completely ruled out a return to a father-son relationship.
Jennie Bond shared her insights with OK!, noting that King Charles, who is currently battling cancer, remains emotionally receptive despite the challenges he faces. “Charles has always been a softie. He’s got quite a temper, but his bark is much worse than his bite, and all sorts of things (especially music) can move him to tears,” Bond remarked. She added, “I don’t think he has slammed the door on his ‘darling boy’.”
The expert’s comments come amidst the strained relations between the King and the Duke of Sussex, which have been evident since Harry’s departure from royal duties in 2020. The rift has been exacerbated by Harry’s candid revelations in his book Spare. Despite these issues, Bond suggests that King Charles’s stance is not as rigid as it might appear.
Charles is reportedly willing to mend fences with his son, though he has set forth two conditions for any potential reconciliation. Bond elaborated, “he will expect Harry to acknowledge the hurt he has caused to the whole family,” adding that Charles also expects Harry “not to make special demands if and when he returns for a visit.”
Prince Harry’s last visit to his father took place in February, marking a brief return to the UK amid ongoing family tensions. As the King continues his fight against cancer, the possibility of a renewed relationship with Harry remains on the table, though it hinges on the fulfillment of these conditions.
