“It’s Very Difficult, Because People Judge”: Whoopi Goldberg Defends Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s Reunion

Whoopi Goldberg recently weighed in on Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s family reunion at The Beverly Hills Hotel over the weekend, defending the couple against public scrutiny. The View co-host addressed the situation on Monday, acknowledging how challenging it must be for celebrities to navigate their personal lives while being judged by the public.

“It is very difficult because people like us sit around and we judge it,” Whoopi told the audience. “Maybe we just say, ‘Oh, how nice [that] they’re hanging out together.'”

Goldberg’s comments come after Jennifer Lopez was spotted having lunch with her estranged husband, Ben Affleck, and his children, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel, 12, amid their ongoing divorce proceedings. The reunion sparked public interest, with many speculating about the state of their relationship, told Us Weekly.

However, Whoopi emphasized the importance of not jumping to conclusions about other people’s lives, especially when children are involved. “Because the kids hear all of this. People see all of this. And it is very difficult to figure out what’s going on in somebody else’s relationship,” she added, reminding viewers that family dynamics are often more complicated than they appear.

Goldberg also pointed out that such outings might be motivated by their children’s desires rather than any romantic reconciliation. “I’m assuming they went out because [the] kids wanted to go out, and everybody was doing their thing. And if you’re happy with your family, then you’re affectionate with them,” she explained.

She went on to clarify that these public reunions don’t necessarily signal a rekindling of romance. “It doesn’t mean you’re going home with them again. It just means I’m not so mad at you that I can’t sit across from you,” she concluded, underscoring the importance of maintaining amicable relationships for the sake of family.

The reunion of Lopez and Affleck, though taking place in the midst of their divorce, seems to reflect a commitment to co-parenting and family time, rather than any romantic revival.
