New details have surfaced about the brutal murders of a family of four in Romeoville, Illinois, on September 16, 2023. The victims, shot a total of 20 times by a 9mm pistol, were discovered dead in their home the following day. The suspects in the case, Nathaniel Huey Jr. and his companion, Palomo, fled authorities after initial questioning, leading to a tragic series of events that ended both of their lives.

According to a police report, on the night of the murders, “around 3:17 a.m., Palomo drove Huey Jr. to the murder scene and back.” While she waited in the car, Huey allegedly carried out the killings. However, when the couple was questioned shortly after the crime, they denied any involvement. With no solid evidence linking them to the murders at the time, the two were released.

It wasn’t until days later, on September 20, that investigators identified them as prime suspects. By then, Huey Jr. and Palomo had already fled Illinois and were tracked to Catoosa, Oklahoma. While in Catoosa, they were spotted at a Walmart, and as they left the store, police confronted them. This led to a high-speed car chase, which ended in a fiery crash after Huey allegedly shot Palomo. Huey Jr. was killed in the crash, while Palomo was transported to a hospital, where she later died from her injuries. told by ABC Chicago.

Further shocking revelations came to light after newly obtained records indicated that Huey Jr. had confessed to his mother that he was responsible for the murders. This admission, documented in the case file, added another layer of tragedy to an already horrifying crime. However, the suspects’ attorney, John Paul Ivec, expressed uncertainty about the confession, stating, “I do not know who [Huey Jr.’s] mother is and have no information as to his conversation with her or what she knew.”

The tragic deaths of the family, whose identities remain undisclosed, and the violent end of both suspects have left many unanswered questions. As the investigation continues, authorities are working to piece together the full story behind the horrific events that unfolded on September 16 and the complex relationship between Huey Jr. and Palomo.
