Harry and Meghan’s ‘Uncontained Fury’ Over Media Criticism, Says Royal Expert

Prince Harry has recently been urged to reconsider his anger and response to media criticism directed at Meghan Markle. Royal commentator Emily Andrews shared her insights on the couple’s reaction, especially their tendency to enter “fight mode,” during an interview with Woman Magazine.

The discussion stemmed from a piece published by The Hollywood Reporter, which referenced Meghan as “Duchess Difficult” and detailed claims of her “terror” and “uncontained fury” towards royal staff during her time in Buckingham Palace. While the original story didn’t attract major attention, Andrews believes the Sussexes’ reaction did more to highlight the negative claims.

“It was a short piece that didn’t even make the front cover,” Andrews explained, suggesting that the article could have gone relatively unnoticed. “But the Sussexes’ reaction was even more interesting than the original story,” she added, highlighting their immediate and strong response to the accusations.

In Andrews’ view, the couple’s response was driven by “uncontained fury.” She elaborated on how Meghan’s team’s efforts to manage the fallout by working with a major U.S. magazine only backfired. “By helping with a huge cover story for one of America’s most-read weekly magazines, her staff were, in fact, drawing attention to the original piece in The Hollywood Reporter and the unpalatable accusations within it,” Andrews observed.

The royal commentator suggested that Harry and Meghan might have been better off not reacting to the media scrutiny. “Harry and Meghan may have been better served by just ignoring it and rising above,” Andrews pointed out. Instead, their media team, Archewell, quickly went into “fight mode” to defend Meghan against the accusations, drawing even more attention to the initial story.

The Sussexes’ approach to media criticism has often been a topic of discussion, especially as they navigate life outside of the royal family. Andrews’ comments suggest that their defensive stance might not always serve them well, as it can sometimes amplify the negative stories they wish to counter.

The royal expert hinted that by adopting a more measured response, the couple could avoid the spotlight being drawn to such unflattering accusations, rather than engaging in a public battle with the media. This approach could help them maintain focus on their positive endeavors, rather than getting caught up in negative press.
