Australian authorities have charged 32-year-old Jacob Greig, who goes by the nickname “Harry Potter” on social media, with the murder of a teenage boy in New South Wales. Greig’s arrest followed a public appeal for information, and he surrendered himself to the Narellan Police Station on Saturday, November 9, as reported by The New Zealand Herald, News.com.au, and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

According to police, the body of a 15-year-old boy was discovered on November 9 in a bushland area near Wilton. The timeline of events suggests the confrontation occurred between 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. on November 8, with police alleging that Greig fatally stabbed the teen following a dispute. Court documents reviewed by The Herald state that the teenager had reportedly tried to rip the handle off Greig’s car, telling him he was “trying to get home,” a claim supported by video and audio presented in court.

Prosecutors say Greig was in the area of Maldon Weir with a friend when the altercation began. In audio played in court, Greig allegedly responded to the boy by threatening, “I’ll f—— get you good.” According to News.com.au, the confrontation escalated, with Greig allegedly chasing the boy and threatening to “chop your f—— hand off” after the teenager reportedly knocked his glasses off.

In statements cited by The Herald, Greig admitted to police that he had slashed the boy with a knife before returning to his car. Greig reportedly claimed that the boy was “bleeding profusely” following the incident. Prosecutors further allege that as Greig attempted to drive away, the teenager climbed onto the roof of the moving vehicle. According to ABC, the boy then fell from the roof and sustained fatal injuries, leaving behind a trail of blood at the scene, which authorities interpreted as evidence that the boy was left to die.

In court, Greig’s attorney argued that the exact cause of the boy’s death is uncertain, suggesting it could have resulted from either the initial stabbing or the fall from the car. The defense has requested that Greig be released to home detention while awaiting trial. At this time, it is unclear whether Greig has entered a formal plea.

Greig’s Facebook profile lists his profession as a chef and mentions that he is a father. His use of the nickname “Harry Potter” on social media has drawn attention due to the fictional character from J.K. Rowling’s series, but authorities have not indicated any relevance of this nickname to the case itself.
