“These Symptoms Do Not Always Mean You Have Prostate Cancer”: Joe Biden Health Update Sparks New Concerns

Fresh concerns about Joe Biden’s health have emerged following news that a small nodule was discovered on his prostate during a recent routine physical exam. Although no formal diagnosis has been shared, the update has reignited public debate over the 82-year-old former president’s well-being, just months after he stepped away from the political spotlight.

The nodule, which is currently under further investigation, could be benign or something more serious, such as infection or cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, one in eight men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer during their lifetime. Symptoms may include blood in urine or semen, difficulty urinating, and frequent nighttime urination.

Despite these signs, NHS guidance has stressed: “These symptoms do not always mean you have prostate cancer. Many men’s prostates get larger as they get older because of a non-cancerous condition called benign prostate enlargement.”

Biden’s health has long been under scrutiny, particularly in his final year in office as the oldest-serving president in U.S. history. Though a February 2024 exam at Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre deemed him “fit to serve,” observations of imbalance and falls during public appearances raised widespread concern.

These issues are addressed in the upcoming book Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-Up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, set to release May 20. Co-authors Jake Tapper and Alex Thompson allege that Biden’s closest advisors even discussed the possibility of him needing a wheelchair had he pursued a second term.

Public attention intensified after a high-profile fall during a June 2023 speech at the U.S. Air Force Academy. Critics, including some medical professionals, pointed to his shuffling gait and frequent stumbles as signs of potential neurological decline. The White House dismissed these concerns as normal effects of aging.

Biden ultimately stepped aside in the 2024 election, endorsing then-Vice President Kamala Harris. Some Democrats have since said that the party would have benefitted from an earlier decision, including Senator Amy Klobuchar, who said, “We needed a real debate about the future of the country… Instead, we were stuck in a waiting game.”

As Biden slowly returns to public life—most recently appearing on The View alongside Jill Biden—he faces mixed reactions within his party about what role he should play going into the 2026 midterms.

Meanwhile, doctors continue to monitor his prostate nodule with further testing, likely including a PSA (prostate-specific antigen) test, which measures levels in the blood. Elevated PSA levels can signal prostate issues, though results may vary and don’t always indicate cancer.
