A fresh round of royal drama is reportedly brewing as Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton find themselves at odds once again—this time over a viral video.
According to insiders, Princess Kate took a private jab at Meghan Markle after the Duchess of Sussex released a throwback clip of herself dancing with Prince Harry in an effort to induce labor ahead of Princess Lilibet’s birth. The footage, which features Meghan dancing to Starrkeisha’s “The Baby Momma Dance,” was posted recently and received a mixed response on social media.
While some fans found the moment “cute” and lighthearted, critics were quick to label it “cringe,” and within royal circles, the reaction was reportedly much harsher.
“When Prince William and Princess Kate saw the video, they thought it was another way of seeking attention,” a royal insider told Radar Online. “They thought it was so tacky and a very sad illustration of just how desperate and shameless the Sussexes have become with their attention-seeking behavior.”
The source added that Kate made her feelings clear behind closed doors. “Kate’s privately told people that she wouldn’t be caught dead acting in such a vulgar fashion,” said the insider. “And it was incredibly galling for William to see his brother fooling around like a goofy teenager.”
The renewed tension only adds to the longstanding rift between the two royal couples. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle officially stepped down as working royals in 2020, two years after their 2018 wedding, and relocated to the United States to begin a new chapter of independence. Their exit, dubbed “Megxit,” followed reported internal conflicts—especially between Harry and his older brother, Prince William.
Royal watchers have long speculated that William’s initial disapproval of Meghan played a major role in the brothers’ falling out, and this latest development may further strain the already fragile relationship.
Though the Sussexes continue to chart their own course far from palace life, moments like this dance video appear to be keeping old wounds open—and perhaps adding new ones.
