Prince William’s firm stance on his disgraced uncle, Prince Andrew, has come into sharp focus, with royal expert Hilary Fordwich shedding light on the heir’s resolve to protect the monarchy’s reputation at all costs.
In a recent interview with Fox News Digital, Fordwich revealed how the Prince of Wales views Andrew as a serious threat to the future of the monarchy.
“His uncle Andrew’s reckless conduct has put the family in jeopardy,” Fordwich said, referencing the Duke of York’s controversial past and association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. As the future king, William is keenly aware of the need to distance the Crown from scandal.
“He won’t and can’t risk public association with such a disastrous member of the family who merely serves as a distraction from public duty,” she continued.
According to Fordwich, even King Charles III supports William’s strong stance, appreciating his son’s sense of duty and determination to protect the monarchy. “King Charles is pleased William has taken such a dutiful, dedicated approach to the monarchy,” she noted.
Prince William, unlike some of his predecessors, is reportedly committed to upholding the dignity of his future role. “He’s not the playboy of many past Princes of Wales, ancestors of his who didn’t either take the role seriously and/or were defined by debauchery,” Fordwich explained.

As a result, Prince Andrew has been permanently sidelined, barred from appearing at major public royal events like Garter Day and Trooping the Colour. William’s position on this, Fordwich said, is “unwavering.”
The royal expert also dismissed any notion that Prince Andrew could stage a public comeback under William’s reign. “Prince William sees this risk as a liability to the monarchy’s reputation and stability as permanent. His resolve is absolute.”
While King Charles allows Andrew to attend private family gatherings, Fordwich made it clear that “there will be no more public processions or official duties” for the Duke. “This approach is wise,” she concluded, “as it keeps familial peace while upholding a proper public image.”
The message from the heir to the throne is clear: the monarchy’s future will not accommodate scandals from its past.
