The British royal family, often perceived as distant and traditional, continues to face relationship challenges that mirror those of ordinary people. Now, a royal expert is shedding light on King Charles’ alleged thoughts about Prince Harry’s marriage to Meghan Markle, revealing a glimpse of the monarchy’s personal struggles behind closed doors.
Royal commentator Esther Krauke, speaking to The Sun, claimed that King Charles once remarked about his younger son being “whipped” in his relationship with Meghan a comment that reflects concerns from within the royal inner circle.
“We know that King Charles said something about him being whipped. We keep hearing things consistently coming out from courtiers and people that are close to the Royal Family,” Krauke stated.
Despite stepping back from royal duties and relocating to the U.S., the Duchess of Sussex continues to face criticism from both within and outside palace walls. Krauke suggested that Meghan may be displeased with her current standing following her exit from the Firm. “I think in some ways Meghan thought she was marrying a billionaire, but was marrying a millionaire with like sort of a reduced status,” the commentator noted.

She also implied that Meghan may not have fully grasped what her royal role entailed or perhaps wasn’t truly interested in it. According to Krauke, the former Suits actress “hadn’t earned enough brownie points to actually be able to choose the tools she wanted to go on in the way that she wanted to do or curate her image in the same way.”
The late Queen Elizabeth II’s opinion of Meghan reportedly evolved over time, mirroring the changing sentiments of the British public. Krauke added, “The Queen’s opinion of Meghan evolved, and it’s much like how the country’s opinion evolved. I think where things went wrong was clearly the cultural clash.”
Prince Harry and Meghan were married in May 2018, but their union has remained the focus of continued public interest and controversy. Krauke also claimed that in the lead-up to the wedding, Harry’s decisions allegedly left the late Queen “dismayed,” and that he may have almost “blew” his relationship with her over certain wedding arrangements.
As the royal family continues to grapple with internal tensions and shifting roles, Harry and Meghan’s relationship remains a lightning rod for scrutiny and speculation.
