Dakota Greeley (Jefferson County Jail).
A Pennsylvania man is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting his girlfriend, Trisha Renee Cole, in the head and attempting to flee law enforcement in a violent and chaotic arrest. According to an arrest report, 20-year-old Dakota Greeley shot Cole early Thursday morning.
When police arrived at the scene, Greeley had already fled. However, he returned shortly afterward and allegedly fired two shots from a rifle at officers, prompting them to return fire.
Following the exchange, Greeley escaped in a pickup truck but later crashed and attempted to flee on foot. He was eventually apprehended by authorities.
Emergency medical personnel treated Greeley at the scene, but according to the arrest report, he threatened to kill them during the process. At the hospital, Greeley reportedly confessed to the killing. When asked where the weapon was, he chillingly replied, “It was in my hand.”
Police discovered Cole’s body lying in the street. She had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and had a tire track across her body, indicating she may have also been run over.
Authorities have since confirmed that Cole was pregnant at the time of her death, adding a further level of tragedy to the case. Greeley now faces multiple charges, including criminal homicide, murder, and making terroristic threats.
He is currently being held without bail. The case remains under investigation, and officials have yet to release information regarding a possible motive.
