“Kate is Really Sad”: Princess of Wales Reportedly Worried as Prince George Prepares for Boarding School

Kate Middleton is reportedly heartbroken and anxious as her eldest son, Prince George, nears the age when he will leave home for boarding school. According to insiders, Prince William, 43, is eager for their 12-year-old heir to attend his alma mater, Eton College, in September 2026.

However, Kate, 43, is reportedly struggling with the thought of sending her firstborn away from the family home, Adelaide Cottage, in Windsor. “I think Kate is really sad because she doesn’t want him to go away,” a source told Radar Online. “She’s very nervous, and she wants to spend more time with him.”

The Princess of Wales’ health challenges have only heightened her emotions about the transition. Diagnosed with cancer in 2024, Kate spent most of the year undergoing treatment and staying out of the public eye. Insiders claim that sending George to boarding school could add stress to her recovery.

“George’s absence will take a toll on her physical health,” the source shared. “She might feel guilty in a way. The past few years have been filled with a lot of lows because of her illness, and I’m sure she just wants to be with her family as much as she can.

When George goes away, she will not get that chance, and she undoubtedly will not be happy with that.” Kate is also said to be concerned about the pressures of modern life and the potential risks her son could face while living away from home.

“In this day and age of social media,” the insider added, “she is concerned about George’s privacy, and since he’ll be away at school, she won’t have eyes on him. That will most likely tear her apart inside to know that she’s not there to protect him.”

Prince William and Princess Kate, who married in 2011, welcomed Prince George in 2013. The young royal has largely grown up at home with his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, making his move to boarding school a significant change for the family.

While the decision aligns with royal tradition William himself attended Eton sources suggest that for Kate, the emotional weight of watching her son leave home will be particularly challenging.
