Authorities in Georgia have arrested three individuals in connection with the death of Maury-Ange Faith Martinez, a 20-year-old woman whose remains were discovered in January, several months after her disappearance.
Martinez was reported missing on August 28, 2023, in Gwinnett County, Georgia, according to the Cobb County Police Department. Months later, in January, skeletal remains were found in Hamilton County, Tennessee, which were subsequently identified as Martinez’s.
Allen Kerr, Sean Deschauzer, and Jasmine Craig have been charged in connection with Martinez’s death, as reported by 11 Alive, the Chattanooga Times Free Press, and WSB Radio, citing police and jail records. Each of them faces charges of concealment of a death.
Martinez’s mother, Anita Darling, recounted the events leading up to her daughter’s disappearance to 11 Alive. Darling explained that she was on her way to pick up Martinez near a courthouse when she received a “strange” call from her daughter. “She called me and said she had caught a ride,” Darling told the outlet. “I thought that it was somebody who worked at the facility.”
Despite this, Darling felt uneasy about the call. “It still seemed a little strange,” she added. “I got off the phone with her and felt uneasy about it.” Following the call, Martinez did not respond to her mother’s texts, which further alarmed Darling.
Before Martinez’s remains were found, her family had created a GoFundMe page to help fund the search for her. In the description, her family alleged that she had been “taken” to another location, where a “male ‘friend’” had planned to pick her up. However, police have not confirmed this information.
The tragic case has now led to the arrests of Kerr, Deschauzer, and Craig, bringing some semblance of resolution to Martinez’s family. The investigation continues as authorities seek to uncover the full circumstances surrounding her death.
