Andrew Garfield recently opened up about the process of building chemistry with his “We Live In Time” co-star, Florence Pugh. In an interview with People magazine, the 41-year-old actor revealed that it took some time for them to become comfortable with each other.

Garfield candidly admitted, “I was really scared. I think we were both really scared and nervous because it takes a while to get to know someone.” He explained that there are often initial barriers when meeting new people, saying, “There’s layers there. There are defenses there. I am someone, who on first meeting someone, I can be quite shy and quite protective and it takes me a while to really let someone know me. But then, when they’re in, there’s no getting out.”

Despite the initial awkwardness, Garfield quickly realized that he could trust Pugh, which helped them both relax and connect. He noted, “I could see quickly that I could trust her, that she wanted to have fun, that she wanted to play.” This realization, according to Garfield, was the turning point in their working relationship.

What made the process even more enjoyable for Garfield was the sense of humor they developed together. He said, “And that is like catnip to me. Someone who wants to just piss around and she started taking the piss out of me. I really enjoyed that. I took the piss out of her and she really enjoyed that.” report from ABC News.

Their playful dynamic helped them build the necessary chemistry for the film, turning initial nerves into a close bond. Garfield’s experience working with Pugh highlights the importance of trust and humor in creating on-screen relationships that feel genuine and engaging.

As a two-time Oscar nominee, Garfield has worked with many talented actors, but he was quick to praise Pugh for her willingness to dive into their partnership with enthusiasm. Their upcoming film, “We Live In Time,” promises to showcase that growing connection, both on and off screen.
