Angelina Jolie has accused her ex-husband Brad Pitt of attempting to silence her through a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) as their legal battle continues. The 49-year-old Maleficent actress’ attorneys filed court documents on July 25 alleging that Pitt, 60, is trying to compel Jolie to sign an NDA to conceal abuse allegations against him, according to People.
The NDA in question is purportedly designed to prevent Jolie from speaking out about abuse claims. Jolie’s legal team has argued in favor of demanding detailed disclosures from Pitt, believing it to be crucial for the case.
In response, Pitt’s attorneys have objected, describing the request as “wide-ranging and intrusive,” as reported by Page Six. They argue that the demands imposed by Jolie’s legal team are excessive and unwarranted.
The former couple, who were married from 2014 to 2019 and share six children, have been engaged in a contentious dispute over their co-owned French winery, Château Miraval. In 2022, Pitt sued Jolie for selling her share of the estate without his approval, citing a contractual agreement that required mutual consent for such transactions.
According to the latest court documents, Jolie’s legal team asserts that she “was not acting with malice and the intent to hurt Pitt in response to any custody ruling” when she sold her stake in Miraval in 2021. They claim that Pitt’s refusal to purchase her interest unless she signed the expanded NDA, which included an $8.5 million holdback to enforce her silence about his alleged abuse, was an attempt to manipulate the situation.
The ongoing legal battle underscores the deepening rift between the former couple as they navigate the complex issues surrounding their joint assets and personal allegations.
