Princess Eugenie is adding her voice to the royal call for ocean conservation, issuing a heartfelt message that appears to echo Prince William’s recent plea to protect the world’s oceans.
The Princess of York—daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson and cousin to Prince William—marked World Oceans Day with a deeply personal post on Instagram, sharing a rare photo of herself at the beach with her two young sons, August, 4, and Ernest, 2.
“The ocean is the greatest wonder of the world. Celebrating @unworldoceansday today and every day,” she wrote alongside the image, which showed her holding hands with Ernest as August played joyfully in the waves. Eugenie, 35, wore a casual beach look featuring a swimsuit with crossing back straps and baggy linen shorts, with her hair swept into an updo.
Her post came just hours after Prince William delivered a powerful speech at the Blue Economy and Finance Forum in Monaco, where he emphasized the urgent need for global action to revive marine ecosystems. Kensington Palace released a statement on Sunday to accompany William’s address: “Momentum is growing ahead of the UN Ocean Conference. The ocean can be healed and work is already underway.”
While Eugenie didn’t directly mention her cousin’s speech, royal watchers quickly noted the timing and tone of her post as a show of unity and shared purpose.
Princess Eugenie has long been an advocate for ocean conservation. She currently serves as an ambassador for the Blue Marine Foundation, a group dedicated to protecting 30% of the world’s oceans by 2030. In May, she was also named a Global Ambassador for Thirty Six For Coral, an art exhibition and auction focused on saving coral reef habitats.
Her latest message, tied to a warm family moment, reflects both her personal and public commitment to marine protection. By choosing to highlight World Oceans Day with her children, Eugenie offered a quiet but powerful reminder of what’s at stake for future generations.
As the royal family increasingly steps into environmental leadership roles, Eugenie’s statement reinforces a united front on climate and conservation—one where personal values, public service, and global responsibility intersect.
