Dolly Parton, country music legend and style icon, recently shared her thoughts on embracing comfort and humor in everyday life, saying that being “comfortable in your own skin” is far more important than living up to anyone’s fashion expectations. Speaking with Closer magazine, Parton humorously admitted, “I say I’m more of an eyesore than an icon in some of the stuff I wear.”

At 78, the “9 to 5” hitmaker is as candid as ever, emphasizing that people should dress in what makes them feel good, rather than worrying about keeping up appearances. “What fits your personality, what you feel good in,” she explained, highlighting her belief that confidence comes from self-acceptance, not from external validation.

The Jolene singer went on to share that when she’s at home, her style is anything but glamorous. “I can wear a tracksuit and look like hell when I’m at home! Everybody’s got their slouchy, comfy clothes,” she laughed, showing that even a style icon has her off-duty moments. Parton’s relaxed approach to life and her own appearance is a refreshing message that even stars need a break from the spotlight and the pressure to look perfect.

In addition to her down-to-earth views on fashion, Parton credits her sense of humor for keeping life enjoyable and balanced. “Being able to have a laugh makes life so much easier,” she said. Her humor, she believes, helps her maintain a light-hearted outlook, which she says is a key to a more fulfilling life. “I do have a great sense of humor,” she added, expressing pride in her ability to laugh at herself and see the lighter side of things.

This openhearted interview follows the recent launch of Parton’s own wine company, a new endeavor that combines her love of life with a touch of luxury. In an interview with Hello! magazine, she spoke excitedly about her new venture into the wine business, revealing her personal connection with her sparkling wine brand. “I identify with the sparkling wine! I’m learning a lot about wine now that I’m in the wine business,” she shared, proving that she’s still full of surprises and eager to explore new ventures.

With her candid sense of humor and unapologetic authenticity, Dolly Parton continues to inspire people to live by their own rules, wear what they feel good about, and never lose their sense of joy. As she embraces this new chapter, Parton reminds us all that a little sparkle and a lot of laughter go a long way.
