Prince Harry has come under fire for allegedly exploiting the health crises of King Charles and Kate Middleton to further his own ambitions, as he prepares for an upcoming trip to Colombia. According to reports, the Duke of Sussex is attempting to re-enter the Royal family by staging international “faux-royal” tours, but critics claim he is using these tours to capitalize on a perceived vulnerability within the Royal family.
Royal expert Dan Wootton has accused Harry of leveraging King Charles’s cancer diagnosis and Kate Middleton’s health issues as a strategic move to gain reentry into royal duties. On his YouTube program, Outspoken, Wootton remarked, “This is what’s so interesting, he’s [Harry] desperate to find a vulnerability, to find a way in. He hoped that it would be Charles and Catherine’s cancer.”
Wootton further asserted that the Royal family had been clear from the start that they did not want Harry’s help or involvement. “But they made it very clear to him early on that, ‘no, nothing changes, we don’t need your help, we don’t want you taking on any duties,’” he explained. He also pointed out that it was Queen Elizabeth II who had previously ruled that Harry and Meghan could not be “half in, half out” of royal duties.
Agreeing with Wootton’s assessment, royal expert and author Angela Levin added, “What the late Queen said was that she didn’t want them to use their titles and make money out of it, and of course, this is what they’ve been doing all the time.” Levin continued, “Even now they use their titles when they shouldn’t be [using them], but I don’t think people bother too much about that.” The controversy highlights ongoing tensions between Prince Harry and the Royal family as he seeks to re-establish his role in public life while facing criticism for his approach.
