A royal expert has raised questions about Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s upcoming four-day visit to Colombia later this summer. The California-based royal couple has been invited to the country by Vice President Francia Márquez.

During their visit, they will spend time in the capital Bogotá, as well as the Caribbean and Pacific regions of Cartagena and Cali. The Vice President of Colombia issued a statement, saying, “I am pleased to announce that Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, have kindly accepted my invitation to visit our beautiful country.”

Harry and Meghan’s upcoming tour to Colombia was revealed just days after Prince Harry expressed concerns for the safety of his wife Meghan Markle and their children in the UK.

Royal expert Cameron Walker shared the news on his X, formerly Twitter, handle, tweeting, “NEW: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will visit Colombia, which is hosting a conference on Ending Violence Against Children. Both the US and UK governments advise against all but essential travel to parts of the country. Prince Harry recently said he refuses to bring his family to the UK because he cannot keep them safe there. Is Colombia safer than the UK for Prince Harry and Meghan?”

Walker further added, “I understand both Prince Harry and Meghan will be given a full security detail for the entirety of their visit alongside Colombia’s Vice President Márquez.”

This visit comes at a time when Prince Harry has been vocal about his concerns regarding the safety of his family in the UK. His recent statements have sparked debates about the security measures in place for the royal couple and their children. The choice of Colombia, a country with travel advisories from both the US and UK governments, has added fuel to the ongoing discussion.

Harry and Meghan’s visit to Colombia will focus on attending a conference aimed at Ending Violence Against Children. The couple has been active in various humanitarian causes, and this visit aligns with their ongoing efforts to advocate for children’s rights and safety.

The security arrangements for the Sussexes during their visit will be closely monitored, as the Vice President of Colombia has assured that a full security detail will be provided to ensure their safety. The royal couple’s decision to accept the invitation despite the travel advisories highlights their commitment to their humanitarian work, even in the face of potential risks.

As the couple prepares for their trip, the royal expert’s question, “Is Colombia safer than the UK for Prince Harry and Meghan?” remains a poignant point of discussion among their followers and critics alike.
