Authorities in Indiana have arrested Steven Valle, 31, and Samantha Sebella, 25, following a disturbing tip that led to the discovery of bone fragments in a backyard. The two are facing several charges, including murder after a tipster alleged that Valle confessed to killing his two children and burning their bodies in a fire pit.

The investigation began on September 20, when Jasper County authorities received a tip from an acquaintance of Valle, who claimed that Valle had admitted to killing his children and disposing of their remains in a fire pit at a home in Wheatfield, Indiana. According to local sheriff’s office statements, this alarming confession prompted law enforcement to take swift action.

Police launched an investigation and located Valle and Sebella at a hotel in nearby Newton County, Jasper County Chief Deputy Jason Wallace told PEOPLE. The couple, believed to be the parents of the children in question, denied any involvement or knowledge of the allegations made by the tipster.

“They just denied it,” Wallace said. “They were cooperative but had nothing to share on the topic.”

Following their arrest, authorities searched the property in Wheatfield, where the alleged crime took place. During the investigation, they discovered bone fragments in the backyard. However, it is still unclear whether the bone fragments are human or if they are connected to the two missing children. Forensic testing is being conducted to determine the origins of the bones.

While the couple has been charged with multiple offenses, including murder, investigators are still piecing together the details of the case. The charges were filed nearly two weeks after the initial tip came in, following extensive investigative work by law enforcement.

Media outlets such as CBS News, and the Kansas City Star have been following the case closely as more details emerge. The mystery surrounding the bone fragments and the fate of the two children remains at the center of the investigation, as authorities continue their efforts to uncover the truth.

This chilling case has sent shockwaves through the Wheatfield community, as police work to determine if the gruesome allegations made by the tipster hold true. For now, Valle and Sebella remain in custody as the investigation continues.
