On Friday, former President Donald Trump took to his Truth Social platform to boast about securing an endorsement from one of Wall Street’s most influential figures. Trump claimed that JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon had thrown his support behind him for the upcoming 2024 presidential race.

In his post, Trump stated, “New: Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan Chase, has endorsed Trump for President,” alongside a red flashing light emoji, suggesting a major announcement.

However, just 20 minutes after Trump made the bold declaration, the claim was quickly dismissed. Joe Evangelisti, a spokesperson for Dimon, promptly addressed the matter and firmly denied the endorsement, telling CNBC, “Jamie Dimon has not endorsed anyone. He has not endorsed a candidate.”

Trump’s campaign remained silent on the issue, not responding to calls from CNBC for further comment on the debunked endorsement.

Dimon, one of the most prominent leaders in the financial industry, has had a nuanced and sometimes tense relationship with Trump over the years. While Dimon has occasionally praised some of Trump’s policies, such as tax cuts aimed at stimulating business growth, he has not hesitated to criticize the former president’s behavior and divisive rhetoric.

In the past, Dimon’s stance on political involvement has been clear. Despite speculation that Trump had considered offering Dimon a high-level position within his administration, the JPMorgan CEO has consistently expressed disinterest in taking on any role in government. report from Ground News.

This latest incident highlights the complicated dynamic between the two figures. While Trump may see Dimon as a potential ally due to their occasional alignment on policy issues, Dimon has made it clear that he does not endorse political candidates and prefers to stay out of the political spotlight.

As Trump gears up for another run at the presidency in 2024, this episode adds to a growing list of fact-checks on claims he has made about support from prominent individuals. The swift debunking of Trump’s post serves as a reminder of the importance of verifying political endorsements, particularly in an era where misinformation can spread rapidly online.
