Jennifer Aniston is revisiting one of the most talked-about chapters of her life her so-called “love triangle” with ex-husband Brad Pitt and actress Angelina Jolie.
The Friends alum married Pitt in 2000, but the pair divorced in 2005 amid widespread reports of his romance with Mr. & Mrs. Smith co-star Jolie. In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Aniston referred to that period as “the love triangle days” and reflected on how she managed to move forward.
“Just pick yourself up by the bootstraps and keep on walking, girl,” she said when asked how she navigated the highly publicized split.
The actress acknowledged that the situation was irresistible fodder for tabloids at the time. “It was such juicy reading for people. If they didn’t have their soap operas, they had their tabloids,” she remarked.

While she admitted the breakup and surrounding rumors were deeply personal, Aniston also recognized the lasting sting of those events. “It’s a shame that it had to happen, but it happened. And boy did I take it personally,” she confessed.
The intense media coverage placed her, Pitt, and Jolie under a constant spotlight something Aniston described as both exhausting and dehumanizing. “They were sort of building us up and then tearing you down… Oh God, did I just quote The Morning Show?” she joked, referencing her hit Apple TV+ drama.
Reflecting further on the scrutiny, she said she struggled to remain unaffected by the relentless headlines and paparazzi frenzy. “I didn’t have a strong enough constitution to not get affected by it. We’re human beings, even though some people don’t want to believe we are. They think, You signed up for it, so you take it. But we really didn’t sign up for that.”
Aniston’s candid comments shed light on the emotional toll of one of Hollywood’s most famous relationship scandals a story that dominated entertainment news for years and fueled public fascination with all three actors involved.
Though nearly two decades have passed since her divorce, her remarks suggest the “love triangle” narrative remains an unforgettable part of her journey one she endured by relying on resilience, a touch of humor, and the determination to keep moving forward.
