Ben Affleck’s love life has been a tabloid favorite, especially his relationships with Jennifer Lopez and ex-wife Jennifer Garner. While Affleck and Garner seemed like the perfect Hollywood couple during their 10-year marriage, their relationship came under scrutiny when rumors of Affleck’s affair with their nanny, Christine Ouzounian, surfaced.

In a 2016 interview with Vanity Fair, a year after their divorce, Garner addressed the alleged affair and provided much-needed clarity. She revealed:

“We had been separated for months before I even heard about the nanny. She had nothing to do with our decision to divorce. She was not part of the equation.”

This statement suggested that their separation stemmed from deeper issues that predated the affair. According to Garner, the affair was more of a symptom of their troubles rather than the cause.

Despite their personal struggles, the couple remained focused on co-parenting their three children: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel. Garner acknowledged the impact of the controversy on her kids and subtly criticized Affleck’s decisions, saying:

“It’s not great for your kids for a nanny to disappear from their lives. I have had to have conversations with my children about the meaning of scandal.”

Garner also shared how she first learned of the alleged affair, recounting:

“I turned on CNN one day, and there we were.”

To cope with the emotional strain, she distanced herself from the news, taking what she described as a “silent oath” to remain as uninformed as possible during that challenging time.

While the nanny scandal grabbed headlines, sources close to the couple suggested their decision to divorce stemmed from simply growing apart. In 2015, they released a joint statement:

“We go forward with love and friendship for one another and a commitment to co-parenting our children, whose privacy we ask to be respected during this difficult time.”

According to People magazine, True to their word, Affleck and Garner have maintained a positive relationship, prioritizing their children’s well-being. Even after Affleck’s recent split with Jennifer Lopez, Garner reportedly stepped up to support him during his struggles, demonstrating their enduring bond as co-parents.

Despite the challenges, their focus on family and mutual respect has allowed them to navigate the ups and downs of their lives with grace and dignity.
