Jessica Simpson is easing her way back into the dating world following her split from Eric Johnson, her husband of 10 years. The 45-year-old singer and actress spoke candidly about the challenges of finding love again while passing through Los Angeles airport this week.
When asked about reentering the dating scene, Simpson admitted it hasn’t been easy. “It’s a rough road out there in the dating world,” she told a reporter.
Despite acknowledging the struggles, Simpson made it clear she isn’t ready to turn to celebrity dating apps just yet. “I mean, I’m not getting on the apps yet,” she confirmed. Instead, the Blonde Ambition star revealed she prefers more traditional introductions. “I would love for a friend to set me up. Are you kidding me?” she added, noting that she actually met her ex-husband at a friend’s party.
Her comments come amid rumors she has been testing the waters with fellow Hollywood star Jeremy Renner. Reports surfaced that Simpson reached out to the actor on social media and left a series of comments on his posts.
Renner, however, appears to be focused on his personal recovery and family life. The Avengers actor has been on a long healing journey following his near-fatal snow plow accident in early 2023. According to insiders, Renner is currently prioritizing his health, parenting his daughter, and tackling new work projects.
One source told Radar Online that Simpson’s online gestures haven’t prompted much response. “She’s throwing so many olive branches and hints, and Jeremy hasn’t bit on any of them,” the insider claimed. Another added, “She’s enjoyed the playful online banter, but her friends think she’s reading too much into it.”
For now, Simpson seems determined to keep her options open while navigating her new chapter. Though she admits dating feels daunting, she hasn’t ruled out the possibility of romance she just wants it to happen organically.
After more than a decade of marriage and raising three children, Simpson’s new outlook reflects a mix of optimism and realism about finding love again. And while she may not be swiping right anytime soon, she’s made it clear she’s open to seeing where life and perhaps a little help from friends might take her next.
