Kate Middleton has gone through a dark period in this last year. The Princess of Wales, long absent from the spotlight to devote herself to cancer treatment, toward the end of the summer announced that she had officially recovered from the disease.
In the toughest period, Kate certainly received the support and closeness of Prince William, but, according to what was revealed by the Showbiz Cheat Sheet portal, the Princess of Wales would have particularly appreciated the “sense of calm and support” transmitted to her by Duchess of Edinburgh Sophie.
In general, Kate seems to get along with all the royals and King Charles considers her like a daughter. Even Prince Harry, when he still frequented Buckingham Palace, has often praised the wife of his brother William. This year, however, Kate needed particular support during her absence for health reasons. Now that she is back, her relationship with Prince Edward’s wife, Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh, is becoming increasingly evident to the general public, evidently matured away from the spotlight and during Kate’s period of illness.
The Princess of Wales reappeared publicly during the memorial service to commemorate the fallen British. Unable to be accompanied by Queen Consort Camilla, who was absent that day due to illness, she sat next to Sophie. Body language expert Judi James told the MailOnline that Kate seemed to appreciate the Duchess’ closeness. “She was seen chatting and smiling sweetly with Sophie on the balcony, looking relaxed and confident.”
Judi also said that at one point Sophie rested a hand on Kate’s back, as a show of support. “That simple gesture of the hand showed Sophie’s dual role,” she explained. “She is the royal who always brings a sense of calm and support on some of the most emotionally charged royal occasions.”
