Kate Middleton, who has recently completed her chemotherapy treatment, wrote a heartfelt reply to Bollywood actress Manisha Koirala, who shared her own experience as a cancer survivor. Koirala, a Nepalese actress in Bollywood, was diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer in 2012 and has since emerged as a survivor. Middleton, who is also battling an undisclosed form of cancer, reached out to Koirala, offering support and solidarity.
Koirala explained her reason for reaching out to the Princess of Wales in her message: “I wanted to reach out to HRH The Princess of Wales to send my good wishes, particularly due to my own experiences.” The actress praised Middleton’s warm and encouraging response, adding, “I am deeply heartened to receive such a warm response from her and wish her the very best of health.
Having faced cancer myself, I know how isolating and challenging the journey can be,” as reported by Town & Country. Koirala emphasized how motivating Middleton’s words of encouragement had been, noting that it made her feel recognized and supported.
Currently, Koirala is working with the Impact Foundation of Tata Hospital in Mumbai and Cancer Care in Nepal. She also spoke about the critical need to make cancer treatment more affordable for a wider portion of society, acknowledging the financial strain cancer treatment places on families. In addition, she stressed the importance of raising awareness about cancer prevention, healthy lifestyles, and educating the public about the disease and its treatment options, as told by the Daily Mail.
Kate Middleton has a history of supporting fellow cancer patients. Recently, she met Liz Hatton, a young photographer with a rare, terminal cancer, during a royal engagement. The royal couple shared touching photos of their meeting on their social media, showing Middleton warmly embracing the 16-year-old. The caption read, “A pleasure to meet with Liz at Windsor today. A talented young photographer whose creativity and strength have inspired us both.
Thank you for sharing your photos and story with us. ❤️ W&C.” “Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” pic.twitter.com/C3WMDfEfQC
On September 9, Middleton posted an emotional video alongside her husband, Prince William, and their three children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—announcing that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment. “The last nine months have been incredibly tough for us as a family,” she shared in the video. She went on to say, “Cancer journey is complex, scary, and unpredictable for everyone, especially those closest to you. Doing what I can to stay cancer-free is now my focus.” Middleton’s announcement was widely praised, with NBC News royal commentator Daisy McAndrew calling it “astonishing” and “incredibly intimate,” offering a sense of relief to many royal fans worldwide.
