Kevin Costner is once again making headlines this time for reportedly sparking a budding romance with actress January Jones, who is nearly two decades his junior.
The 69-year-old actor, fresh off his high-profile divorce from Christine Baumgartner, is rumored to be growing close to 46-year-old Jones, best known for her role as Betty Draper in Mad Men. In addition to her acting career, Jones is also a former model and a single mother to her 12-year-old son, Xander Dane Jones.
According to RadarOnline, while there may be chemistry between the pair, things are moving slowly and deliberately. A source close to the situation revealed, “She’s not the one chasing Kevin.”
“She prefers to be pursued, which could be why things are moving slowly,” the insider explained, hinting that the dynamic between the two is rooted in traditional courtship.
Despite the slow pace, Costner appears to be quite interested. “Kevin has been texting her frequently – he’s just building up the courage to ask her to become an item,” the source added.
While Costner has earned something of a reputation as a Hollywood “playboy” in the wake of his divorce, January seems in no rush to dive headfirst into a new relationship. Her focus remains primarily on her career and raising her son.
Insiders suggest that part of Costner’s hesitation may come from being starstruck himself. “It’s no surprise he feels a little intimidated she has that kind of effect on men,” the source concluded.
