King Charles Accused of ‘Throwing Lifelines’ to Prince Andrew Despite Public Backlash

King Charles is facing criticism for his continued leniency towards his younger brother, Prince Andrew, who still relies on royal funds despite ongoing controversy. The sharp critique comes from royal commentator and author Nathan Kay, who voiced his frustrations in a recent article for Express UK.

Kay did not hold back in addressing the situation, pointing out that despite the Palace’s efforts to cut financial ties, Prince Andrew remains financially tethered to the monarchy. He wrote, “The royal purse strings have allegedly finally been cut, forcing the Duke of York to maintain his sprawling £30 million estate all by himself. God forbid a man have to pay for his own home!”

Andrew, who resides at the Royal Lodge, is reportedly struggling to manage the upkeep of the estate, which costs approximately £400,000 per year in renovations. Kay sarcastically questioned the high maintenance expenses, asking, “What on earth could be so costly at a reported – Diamond-studded roof tiles? Gold leaf paint?”

While some may have expected King Charles to distance himself from his brother amid public discontent, Kay argues that Charles continues to offer support to Andrew. “Somehow, Charles still finds it in his regal heart to keep throwing his brother lifelines, be it in the guise of occasional private allowances or an all-too-generous invitation to appear at public events,” Kay noted, highlighting the king’s apparent reluctance to fully cut off Andrew from the royal fold.

For Kay, the real issue extends beyond finances. He suggests that allowing Prince Andrew to remain publicly linked to the monarchy sends a troubling message. “This is where the real issue lies,” he explained, “because cutting Andrew’s allowance is one thing; allowing him to linger at the royal table is another. His continued presence alongside the Firm serves as a stubborn reminder of the monarchy’s ability to be tone-deaf to public opinion.”

The ongoing controversy surrounding Prince Andrew, including his association with disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, has long fueled public outrage. Despite efforts to reduce his role within the royal family, Andrew’s continued presence and apparent reliance on royal support have only deepened frustrations among critics who see it as damaging to the monarchy’s reputation.

As the royal family navigates public scrutiny, King Charles’ handling of his brother’s situation remains a point of contention, with many wondering if more decisive action is on the horizon.
