Liam Hemsworth Thought His Longtime Relationship with Miley Meant Their Marriage Could Not Fail, Reveals Insider

Liam Hemsworth was reportedly blindsided by the breakdown of his marriage to Miley Cyrus, unable to foresee the challenges that would arise after they exchanged vows. The couple, who had been in an on-and-off relationship for years, tied the knot in December 2018, only to separate less than a year later in 2019.

According to an insider who spoke to Life & Style, Hemsworth was devastated by the unexpected end of their marriage. “Liam thought his longtime relationship with Miley meant their marriage could not fail,” the source revealed. The actor, best known for his role in The Hunger Games series, had envisioned a future with Cyrus and believed their history together would ensure a lasting marriage.

However, the insider noted that Hemsworth began to sense things unraveling shortly after the wedding. “He insists things started to fall apart the moment they said ‘I do,’” the source added, suggesting that the couple’s relationship changed in ways that neither had anticipated after making their union official.

For Miley Cyrus, the aftermath of their split has been equally complex. Despite her initial belief that parting ways was the best decision, Cyrus is reportedly still struggling with the emotional scars from the breakup. Back in June, Life & Style reported that the singer was grappling with unresolved feelings toward Hemsworth. “Miley’s still very scarred and tormented by the way things ended with Liam,” the insider disclosed.

“When they broke up, she really thought it was for the best and that she’d never look back, but now all these years have gone by, and she’s having to admit she still misses him.” Despite these lingering emotions, the source made it clear that Cyrus has no intention of rekindling her romance with Hemsworth. “She only needs closure, but he won’t give it to her,” the confidante explained, highlighting the singer’s struggle to move on completely from their shared past.

The dissolution of their marriage has left both stars with unresolved issues, with Hemsworth reportedly surprised by the sudden deterioration of their relationship and Cyrus still seeking emotional closure. While both have since moved on publicly, the insider’s revelations suggest that the emotional wounds from their brief marriage continue to impact them privately.
