Former One Direction star Louis Tomlinson and reality TV personality Zara McDermott may be facing early relationship trouble, according to recent reports and a body language expert’s analysis.
The couple, who were first spotted together publicly in April, have since confirmed their relationship through social media. Tomlinson recently commented lovingly on Zara’s Instagram post to celebrate a milestone in her career, sparking more speculation about their growing bond.
Currently, the two are vacationing in Costa Rica, where they were seen enjoying a PDA-filled lunch at the Banana Bach Restaurant, a small coastal spot near the ocean. While the pair were photographed sharing affectionate moments, an expert has questioned whether their connection is already starting to fizzle out.
“There’s a lack of synchronicity about the body language here,” body language expert Judi James told the Daily Mail. “Either Louis is studying his phone while Zara looks distracted and slightly bored or they seem to attempt to create a more intimate, romantic and even sexual moment that doesn’t quite take off.”

James further noted that McDermott’s actions appeared disengaged. “His partner seems to be drinking from her water bottle, which on Love Island tended to be an act of distraction as well as a barrier ritual,” she explained, pointing to behavior typically interpreted as detachment or disinterest.
Despite these observations, Tomlinson and McDermott have made time to meet fans in Costa Rica, where they posed for selfies and appeared warm and friendly in public.
While rumors swirl about the state of their relationship, both are also keeping busy with their professional lives. The 33-year-old singer is said to be working on new material for his upcoming album, continuing to build his solo career post–One Direction.
As their tropical trip continues, fans are watching closely to see whether this high-profile romance will flourish or fade.
