Man Allegedly Stabs Father 50 Times, Calls It an ‘Accidental Mistake’

A Missouri man accused of stabbing his own father 50 times claims he “accidentally killed” him during his confession last Wednesday (December 18), according to a criminal complaint obtained by Law & Crime.

Jeffrey Goedde, 41, faces a first-degree murder charge and armed criminal action in relation to the murder of his father, Edward, 75, Leader Publications reported. Jeffrey made his confession to authorities at the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office at around 11:40 a.m. local time.

“I made a mistake,” he said, according to the criminal complaint. “I committed a crime, and I want to turn myself in.” Jeffrey told investigators that his father was unconscious and bleeding from the face and back in the kitchen after he used weapons and his own hands during the brutal attack.

The sheriff’s office contacted the Manchester City Police Department, the jurisdiction in which the crime was committed, and officers made a welfare check, entering the house through a basement window.

Edward was found dead lying face down on the kitchen floor with multiple stab wounds when officers arrived at the scene. Detectives then talked to Jeffrey, who said he was aware that “he was not free to leave because he accidentally killed someone,” according to the criminal complaint. The suspect refused to provide additional information and requested a lawyer.

An autopsy revealed that Edward suffered about 50 stab wounds, as well as broken bones, strangulation, and blunt force trauma, which included blows to the head, during the fatal attack. A kitchen knife with a pointed tip suspected to be the murder weapon was located inside a trash can.

Jeffrey, who is being held without bond, reportedly went to the sheriff’s office and not the Manchester City Police Department, because he trusts the countywide agency, Sheriff Dave Marshak, told Leader Publications.
