Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are reportedly struggling in their marriage, with speculation that their solo work trips are concealing deeper issues. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who have recently focused on separate careers following a series of public setbacks, may be facing a difficult time in their personal lives, according to royal expert Clemmie Moodie.
Writing for The Sun, Moodie remarks, “But according to dodgy mags across the Pond, and even one in Spain, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are in the middle of a trial separation and/or heading to the divorce courts before you can say ‘finding freedom.’” This reference to the title of their biography suggests that, just six years after their lavish wedding, the couple appears to be spending more time apart than ever before.
Moodie goes on to highlight Harry’s increasingly public frustration, writing, “We are by now well used to hard-done-by Harry scowling — but, particularly of late, he really, really cannot turn that frown upside down.” The royal expert hints that Harry’s unhappiness may be growing, despite outward appearances of professionalism and dedication to their respective projects.
Meanwhile, members of Harry and Meghan’s team have been working hard to dismiss rumors of trouble in paradise, insisting that it’s not unusual for couples to spend time apart, especially when managing busy careers. Nonetheless, Moodie points out the growing distance between the pair, sharing, “Friends of friends from the UK claim that earlier this year the pair stayed at their California mansion, in Montecito. But I am reliably told Meghan was barely seen — prompting speculation she was perhaps not in the marital home.”
The absence of Meghan from public sight during this period has led to further speculation, though it’s unclear whether she was avoiding the public eye or simply staying out of the spotlight. “Of course, she, too, may have been with friends — or hiding away in a wing, desperately not associating with friends of friends of mine,” Moodie adds, hinting at the level of secrecy surrounding the couple’s private life.
Ultimately, Moodie concludes that the true state of their relationship is known only to Meghan and Harry themselves. “Who knows what is really going on? Probably only Meghan and Harry,” she writes, acknowledging the uncertainty around the couple’s current situation. As they continue to navigate their careers and public image, speculation about their marriage is likely to persist.
