Former friends Meghan Markle and Lizzie Cundy recently had an uncomfortable run-in at the LA Children’s Hospital Gala. Lizzie, a British TV personality, has since made critical remarks about the Duchess of Sussex, accusing her of making the event “all about herself.”
In an interview with Daily Mail, Lizzie shared her experience, saying, “I bet she was delighted to see me!” She continued to express her disappointment with Meghan’s behavior at the charity gala, sarcastically noting, “It’s the event to be seen at. I was hoping she would do something for the charity, maybe do a speech, but it appeared she was just there for the photo-op.”
Lizzie went on to describe an awkward moment during the event, saying, “She wasn’t there for that long – there was a funny point where a lady asked for a selfie and her face looked like she’d swallowed a wasp.” She added, “She needs LA, but LA has had enough of her. She’s cooked a goose there. She makes it all about herself.”
The pair first became friends after meeting at a charity event in 2013. However, their friendship reportedly took a turn for the worse after Meghan began dating Prince Harry. According to Lizzie, Meghan “ghosted” her once she joined the royal family.
Reflecting on their falling out, Lizzie expressed disappointment over Meghan’s sudden change in attitude. “We were friends, and then she just cut me off once she became part of the royal circle,” Lizzie claimed.
Meghan’s behavior at the gala and the perceived focus on herself has added fuel to the already widespread criticism she faces in both the UK and the US. Lizzie’s sharp comments highlight the growing rift between the Duchess and some of her former acquaintances, who feel abandoned or overshadowed since she married into the royal family.
While Meghan has not responded to these claims, the comments from Lizzie suggest a deeper personal strain between the former friends, further complicating the Duchess’s public image. As Meghan continues to navigate life in the spotlight, criticism from past relationships like Lizzie’s may continue to arise, adding to the challenges she faces in rebuilding her personal and professional reputation in Hollywood.
