Meghan Markle’s Independent Ventures “Will Not Appeal” to Britons, Says Royal Expert

Meghan Markle’s recent foray into independent projects is unlikely to win over the hearts of Britons, according to royal author Hugo Vickers. As the Duchess of Sussex charts a career path distinct from that of her husband, Prince Harry, observers have begun to question the effectiveness of her strategy in maintaining her brand appeal.

In comments made to The Sun, Vickers noted that while Harry attempts to reconnect with his previous persona, Meghan’s approach appears to stray from traditional royal expectations. He explained, “Prince Harry is trying to sort of turn himself into the old Prince Harry and do what he was very good at.” Vickers pointed out that Harry is now “giving out awards instead of accepting them and talking about the issues that he likes talking about when he’s on his own.”

The dynamics of their public appearances have also drawn scrutiny, with Vickers stating, “When Meghan is there I always seem to find that he’s either spouting whatever she tells him to or she’s doing the talking.” This observation suggests a shift in Harry’s role within their public engagements, with Meghan often leading the narrative.

Vickers further elaborated on Meghan’s recent activities, highlighting her background in acting. “She of course was an actress and so appearing in a red dress in front of one of those advertising screens and talking to celebrities and things is very much her world,” he noted. This observation raises questions about how Meghan’s previous career informs her current endeavors and whether they resonate with the British public.

In his conclusion, Vickers expressed skepticism about the impact of Meghan’s current projects, stating, “I don’t think that anything she’s doing at the moment is going to appeal to people in the UK very much.” This remark underscores a growing sentiment among some royal observers that Meghan’s efforts to carve out an independent identity may not align with the expectations or interests of her British audience.

As Meghan continues to navigate her post-royal life, the response from both the public and media remains a point of contention. With Harry attempting to reconnect with his royal roots and Meghan pursuing her own ambitions, it remains to be seen how their paths will intertwine and whether they can find common ground that resonates with their supporters across the pond.
