Prince Harry has been described as a “lamb to the slaughter” in Meghan Markle’s plans since their marriage, according to royal expert and former Vanity Fair editor-in-chief Tina Brown. In a recent appearance on The Ankler podcast with Janice Win, Brown criticized Meghan for what she called consistently poor judgment, suggesting that the Duchess of Sussex has made critical missteps since stepping away from the Royal Family.
She did not hold back in her assessment of Meghan, saying, “The trouble with Meghan is that she has the worst judgment of anyone in the entire world. She’s flawless about getting it all wrong. All of her ideas are total crap, unfortunately.”
Brown emphasized how Prince Harry has suffered as a result, implying that his decisions have been heavily influenced by Meghan. “He’s the lamb to the slaughter in this situation. And he just sort of blindly followed her like a child, really,” Brown remarked, portraying Harry as someone who has been led astray in his personal and public life.
Brown has commented on Prince Harry’s emotional struggles in the past, often portraying him as a volatile figure deeply affected by the pressures of royal life. She previously described Harry as “a very impetuous man” and elaborated on his state of mind while still within the royal fold. “He was so fragile, so combustible, he was so unhappy, frankly, in the constraints of the Royal Family,” Brown explained.
The expert’s harsh critique of Meghan comes after several public controversies involving the couple, including their highly publicized interview with Oprah Winfrey and the release of their Netflix documentary series Harry & Meghan. While Meghan has largely remained out of the spotlight in recent months, Brown’s comments suggest that the damage to Harry’s relationship with his family may be more lasting.
Royal commentator Jennie Bond has also weighed in, noting that Meghan appears to be deliberately avoiding further conflict with the Royal Family. Since the release of the couple’s tell-all projects, Bond observed that Meghan has stayed away from public discussions about the monarchy. This retreat from controversy may signal an effort by the Duchess of Sussex to move beyond the turbulent period following their decision to step down from royal duties.
However, Brown’s portrayal of Harry as a figure who has blindly followed his wife into what she sees as a series of poor choices raises questions about the couple’s future role in the public eye. While Harry has repeatedly defended their actions as necessary for their well-being, Brown’s sharp criticism underscores the ongoing debate about how much influence Meghan holds over the Duke of Sussex.
As the couple continues to navigate life outside the Royal Family, these biting comments reflect the tensions that persist between their decisions and the traditional expectations of royalty. For now, it seems Harry and Meghan’s journey remains a point of contention among royal experts and followers alike.
