Miley Cyrus is diving deep into her creative instincts with what she’s calling an “extremely experimental” new album, revealing that her latest release, Something Beautiful, is just the beginning.
The pop star, who premiered the Something Beautiful visual album at New York’s Beacon Theatre during the 2025 Tribeca Festival, is treating the project as a “starter course” before serving fans the full artistic feast. The visual companion follows last week’s release of the audio version, which offered a glimpse into a more intimate and artistic direction for the artist.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cyrus offered a sneak peek into her upcoming 12-track album, emphasizing that it’s all about emotional resonance, not commercial formulas.
“I think I know what those at least feel like, and that’s what I started out with this album too, where it wasn’t necessarily about the sound first or even the look or the vision — it’s what it makes you feel like,” she said.
Cyrus, who first rose to fame as Disney’s Hannah Montana and later reshaped her image with boundary-pushing hits like Wrecking Ball and Flowers, says her new work is shaped by a desire for personal freedom and self-expression.
Now 32, she’s shedding the weight of public expectation and rediscovering music on her own terms.
“I really want to do something that doesn’t have that sort of power over me and is just really about the music,” she said, making it clear that her next project won’t be defined by industry trends or the pressure to deliver a hit.
The singer, who has weathered more than a decade of intense fame, says this new chapter is less about spectacle and more about authenticity—prioritizing feeling and creative integrity over everything else.
With Something Beautiful setting the stage, fans can expect a more personal, unfiltered Miley when her full-length experimental album drops. And if her recent Tribeca Festival performance is any indication, she’s more than ready to step into that space.
