Shari Franke, daughter of convicted child abuser Ruby Franke, is speaking out against the upcoming Lifetime movie Mormon Mom Gone Wrong: The Ruby Franke Story, which chronicles the events surrounding her mother’s 2023 arrest and conviction. Ruby, once a popular family vlogger, was sentenced to four to sixty years in prison on multiple counts of child abuse, along with her business partner Jodi Hildebrandt.

Shari, the eldest of Ruby’s six children, took to Instagram on Friday, October 4, expressing her distress over the movie’s trailer. She wrote, “I saw the trailer suddenly in class and had an anxiety attack.” Her post revealed her frustration not only with the film’s release but also with the fact that her family was not consulted about it. “None of us were contacted about the movie. None of the proceeds are going to the kids,” she claimed, referring to herself and her five siblings. According to Daily Mail.

Shari continued by calling the movie “trash” and voiced concerns about its potential impact on her siblings. “This movie is trash, and only hurts my siblings more,” she wrote, urging her followers, “Please do not support this movie.”

The film stars Emilie Ullerup as Ruby Franke and Heather Locklear as Jodi Hildebrandt. Ruby and Hildebrandt’s arrests came after Ruby’s 12-year-old son Russell escaped from Hildebrandt’s home in Utah, where he had been held in a state of emaciation. He was found with visible wounds and tape marks on his wrists and ankles. Ring camera footage captured the boy asking a neighbor to “take me to the nearest police station.”

Ruby’s then 9-year-old daughter, Eve, was also found in a similar state of malnourishment at Hildebrandt’s home. Ruby eventually pleaded guilty to four counts of child abuse in December 2023, resulting in her and Hildebrandt’s joint sentencing of four to sixty years in prison. report from MSN.

Shari has been vocal about her estrangement from her mother and the traumatic impact of these events on her family. Following Ruby’s arrest, she shared on Instagram, “Me and my family are so glad justice is being served. We’ve been trying to tell the police and CPS for years about this, and so glad they finally decided to step up.”

In another post a month later, Shari reflected on the emotional toll the situation had taken on her. “I’ve cried, had an infinite number of panic attacks, had way too much ice cream, and yet life goes on. Therapy has literally saved me, but God has too,” she wrote, adding that while she tries to live her life to the fullest, “Tomorrow is another big court day, and I’d appreciate your prayers and thoughts for my family and myself.”
