Attorney General Pam Bondi has offered a startling new explanation for the ongoing delay in releasing documents related to disgraced financier and convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Speaking to reporters at the White House on Wednesday, Bondi blamed the enormous volume of disturbing material for the holdup, including what she described as an overwhelming number of videos involving Epstein and minors.
“The FBI, they’re reviewing, there are tens of thousands of videos of Epstein with children or child porn, and there are hundreds of victims, and no one victim will ever get released,” Bondi stated.
This comment marks the latest in a string of justifications from Bondi since she first announced over two months ago that the Epstein files would be made public. Her remarks have done little to ease frustrations among critics, particularly those in Donald Trump’s MAGA base, who have expressed growing discontent over the secrecy surrounding the case.
Bondi emphasized that the Federal Bureau of Investigation is carefully combing through the material. “It’s just the volume, and that’s what they’re going through right now,” she explained. “The FBI is diligently going through that.”
In addition to defending the delay, Bondi also dismissed concerns raised by Rep. James Comer (R-KY), who suggested that some files may have been destroyed. “I haven’t seen that statement, but I’ll call him later and find out,” she responded when asked about the claim.
The Epstein case has remained a point of intense public interest, especially due to Epstein’s extensive network of powerful acquaintances and the mystery surrounding his death in federal custody in 2019. Advocates for transparency have repeatedly pushed for the release of the files, arguing that the public deserves to know the full extent of Epstein’s crimes and connections.
While Bondi’s explanation sheds light on the scale of the investigation, it’s unclear how much longer the review process will take or when if ever the files will be released in full. For now, the case remains shrouded in secrecy, with both victims and the public still waiting for answers.
