Prince Andrew’s recent actions involving his cancer-stricken brother have raised eyebrows, particularly with royal commentator Jennie Bond weighing in on the matter. In a candid piece for Inews, Bond revealed that Prince Andrew is believed to have extended an offer to his brother, suggesting that he move into Frogmore Cottage, a property closer to Windsor Castle.
The cottage, which had been extensively renovated for Harry and Meghan before their departure, could serve as an alternative to Prince Andrew’s current residence. However, according to Bond, Prince Andrew does not seem interested in the offer. “But Andrew is unimpressed. Perhaps the ever status-conscious Duke of York thinks living in a ‘cottage’ is beneath him?” she mused.
The royal commentator also pointed out the substantial renovations that have been made to Frogmore Cottage, noting, “I’m sure most people would be thrilled with a five-bedroom house which has just had a £2.4 million makeover.”
This latest development has led Bond to question why King Charles has seemingly chosen to create conflict with his brother. “I’m curious about why the King has chosen to pick this fight with his brother. As far as we know, no one is queueing up to move into Royal Lodge,” she wrote.
As for the possibility of another royal family member taking up residence in the Royal Lodge, Bond suggests that Prince William and Kate Middleton could be the most likely candidates. However, she added, “They are known for feeling more comfortable in Adelaide Cottage because they like bringing their children up in relatively normal surroundings.”
Given the recent trauma caused by Catherine’s cancer diagnosis, Bond speculates that the couple is hesitant to further disrupt their family life by moving into a new house, making Frogmore Cottage a less-than-ideal option.
The situation surrounding Prince Andrew’s offer has prompted further curiosity about the dynamics within the royal family, and whether these tensions will continue to escalate in the coming months.
