Prince Harry’s decision to accept the Pat Tillman Award for his work with the Invictus Games has sparked another wave of criticism. GB News host Nana Akua has been particularly vocal, calling the Duke of Sussex’s acceptance “embarrassing” and questioning the appropriateness of the award.

Akua expressed her disbelief on her show, stating, “How can they not see how jarring this must be for Pat’s mother and family?” She emphasized her point further, remarking, “It beggars belief.”

Akua also criticized Prince Harry’s intentions behind accepting the award, suggesting that his actions are not respectful to the wishes of those who do not support his acceptance. “They don’t want him to pick up the award even if he believes he is picking it up on behalf of others, he should respect that,” she said. Akua concluded her critique by asserting, “Any last shred of credibility is well and truly gone. How embarrassing.”

Nana Akua is not alone in her sentiments. Mary Tillman, the mother of Pat Tillman, after whom the award is named, has also voiced her concerns. She told the Express, “There are recipients that are far more fitting. There are individuals working in the veteran community who are doing tremendous things to assist veterans.”

Mary Tillman highlighted that many deserving individuals do not have the same advantages as Prince Harry. “These individuals do not have the money, resources, connections, or privilege that Prince Harry has. I feel that those types of individuals should be recognized,” she stated.

The controversy around Prince Harry’s acceptance of the Pat Tillman Award continues to grow, with many questioning the appropriateness of honoring a royal figure with such a prestigious recognition. As public figures and family members of Pat Tillman weigh in, the debate underscores broader issues of privilege, recognition, and respect within the veteran community.
