Royal commentator Nathan Kay recently shed light on how difficult Prince Harry’s time in the United States has been, especially in relation to his ambitions with Meghan Markle. In a piece written for Express UK, Kay delved into the challenges the couple has faced since stepping away from royal duties and moving to the U.S., highlighting the struggles they continue to endure.
According to Kay, the public, as well as royal insiders, seem to have grown weary of the couple’s repeated criticisms of the Royal Family. “Royal insiders and the public alike seem to have had enough of the couple’s public mudslinging,” Kay wrote, suggesting that their grievances might be falling on deaf ears.
Meghan Markle, who many expected to thrive in Hollywood, has reportedly not garnered the level of interest initially anticipated. “Meghan, once expected to make waves in Hollywood, hasn’t quite captured the interest many predicted, and the red carpets of Tinseltown remain largely out of reach,” Kay commented, noting the difficulty the former actress has had breaking into the Hollywood elite.
Prince Harry, while finding success with his memoir Spare, has also encountered challenges in his quest to maintain public sympathy. “As for Harry, his candid memoir was a bestseller, but the explosive claims may have come at a price,” Kay explained. The revelations in the book, while captivating, might have damaged his image in the long run.
Kay emphasized that despite Harry’s continued efforts to stay relevant, including his legal battles over security in the UK, public interest in their grievances seems to be waning. He pointed out, “Despite Harry’s efforts to remain in the spotlight, including his ongoing legal battles over security in the UK, there seems to be less public appetite for their grievances.” The ongoing complaints about their royal treatment may no longer resonate with the broader public, both in the U.S. and abroad.
Looking ahead, Kay believes the Sussexes’ best path forward might involve reconciliation with the Royal Family. “The Sussexes may find that their best bet now is to slowly mend fences with the Royal Family,” he advised. However, after years of public accusations and sensational interviews, Kay acknowledged that repairing the fractured relationships will not be an easy feat. “After years of sensational interviews and accusations, this won’t be easy,” he cautioned.
The couple’s transition from royal life to independent careers in the U.S. has been marked by a series of highs and lows, with public opinion fluctuating. Kay’s assessment suggests that while there have been successes, like Harry’s bestselling memoir, the overall experience may not have lived up to the couple’s expectations. For both Harry and Meghan, the future remains uncertain as they navigate their personal and professional lives in a post-royal world.
