Authorities in Georgia believe human remains found by a construction crew may belong to Gabriella Dixon, an 18-year-old mother of two who vanished nearly a year ago. Dixon was last seen in Macon, Georgia, on October 30, 2023, according to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office.
On Wednesday, July 24, human remains were discovered in a wooded area in Monroe County, Georgia. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement saying they suspect the remains belong to Dixon. The remains have been sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation for positive identification.
Following the discovery, authorities charged Jatarvius Deangelo Price with conspiracy to commit murder. Price, 19, had previously been arrested in November on charges of making false statements and tampering with evidence but was released on bond. It is unclear if Price has entered any pleas or retained an attorney to represent him.
In addition to charging Price, authorities have issued a warrant for Reginald Harris on a charge of murder. Dixon’s family identified Harris as the father of her children, according to 13 WMAZ. Dixon was reported missing by her family on October 31, 2023. Chilling details emerged from the missing persons report, including statements made by Dixon’s 2-year-old child.
When Harris dropped the children off at Dixon’s mother’s home on October 30, the child told their grandmother, “Momma was in the blood,” according to reports by WGXA-TV. The older sibling reportedly said, “Momma is sleeping.”
Dixon’s mother, Gabriella Searcy, told 13 WMAZ that the family is “99% sure” the remains belong to Dixon, based on the red hair and clothing found on the body. Searcy had been actively searching for her daughter, with several social media posts showing her efforts.
In November, a GoFundMe was established to aid the family in their search for Dixon. The campaign aimed to gather resources for rescue efforts and support the family during this difficult time.
The investigation into Dixon’s disappearance and death continues, with authorities working to confirm the identity of the remains and seeking justice for the young mother of two. The tragic case has highlighted the family’s relentless efforts to find their loved one and the community’s support during their search.
