Georgia authorities have discovered the remains of TikToker Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez nearly a week after her last known appearance at a Walmart in Cornelia. The 25-year-old was reported missing on Wednesday, October 23, by her family, a day after she was last seen in the Walmart store, according to a statement from the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) arrested 24-year-old Angel DeJesus Rivera-Sanches on a kidnapping charge connected to Rodriguez-Ramirez’s disappearance. Following the discovery of her remains on Tuesday, the GBI announced plans to charge Rivera-Sanches with murder as well.
Rodriguez-Ramirez’s fiancé, Julio Tovor, told the local outlet Now Habersham that her last known communication, a text message, felt suspicious. He described the text he received from her phone on the night of her disappearance: “I am waiting for the brother to pick him up.” Trevor said the message seemed off, adding, “It didn’t make sense. She doesn’t talk like that.”
Rodriguez-Ramirez had a following of over 22,000 on TikTok, where she often shared workout videos and personal stories, including her time in prison at the young age of 13. She was known to openly discuss her experiences and the challenges she faced in her past, gaining a supportive audience. Her family revealed that she had a 9-year-old daughter, who lives in Puerto Rico with her father.
In some of her TikTok posts, she spoke about becoming a mother at 15 and her efforts to gain custody of her child. “She treasured her daughter,” Tovor said, emphasizing how close she was to her family and her dedication to being a good mother.
The circumstances surrounding Rodriguez-Ramirez’s disappearance and murder remain unclear. Law enforcement has yet to provide details on any possible motive or disclose whether she was acquainted with Rivera-Sanches. The investigation is ongoing, and officials are currently awaiting autopsy results to learn more about the cause of her death.
Rivera-Sanches’s involvement has raised many questions, but authorities have not confirmed whether he has entered a plea or retained an attorney. The case is gaining attention as details unfold, particularly in the online community where Rodriguez-Ramirez’s story and social media presence resonated with many.
The tragic discovery marks the end of an intensive search for Rodriguez-Ramirez, whose family and followers held out hope in the days following her disappearance. The GBI and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office are continuing their investigation, with authorities saying more information may be released pending further findings.
As the legal process continues, the family of Rodriguez-Ramirez is left mourning a woman who shared her struggles and successes with the world. She had overcome significant challenges in her life, and her story had inspired many on social media. Now, her family and friends are left searching for answers in the wake of her tragic death.
