Right-wing commentator and Trump strategist Steve Bannon has stirred controversy by claiming Joe Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis is a distraction tactic one he says is “10x bigger than Watergate.”
Bannon made the explosive claim during a conversation with fellow MAGA loyalist Laura Loomer, suggesting that the timing of Biden’s health announcement was orchestrated to deflect attention from recently released interview tapes from former special counsel Robert Hur.
“So they reveal the cancer on Sunday after this thing blows up on Saturday, Friday night, and Saturday,” Bannon told Loomer. “What then is to be done? What is your recommendation to DOJ? What’s your recommendation to the House? What’s your recommendation to investigative reporters? What should be done here, given you may not have Biden around in six, seven, eight months, ma’am?”
Loomer took the accusations even further, calling for sweeping investigations into the president’s medical care team and even First Lady Jill Biden.
“So, you know, there definitely needs to be an investigation into all of the physicians who paid Joe Biden visits,” Loomer said. “I think that all of his staff need to be subpoenaed, and there needs to be an investigation and charges brought against Dr. Jill, the fake doctor, who has committed elder abuse.”
She added, “And he was terminally ill, that means that these auto pen pardons are completely illegitimate. I don’t think that these physicians should be allowed to practice medicine anymore.”
Backing Loomer’s comments, Bannon doubled down on the severity of the situation. “Laura Loomer is correct. This is 10x bigger than Watergate… I said from the beginning. You gotta investigate 2020. This is all of a piece.”
He concluded the interview with a stark message to his audience: “Ladies and gentlemen, we told you they were crooks. We told you he was illegitimate. And now, in May of 2025, they finally released the tape so you can listen with your own ears, hear what you hear. Then they drop the bombshell… He’s got cancer, terminal.”
Bannon’s claims have not been backed by any official statements from the White House or medical professionals, but the rhetoric is already fueling outrage and renewed calls for investigation among far-right circles.
