Tom Cruise has officially relocated back to the U.S. after spending five years in the U.K. The 62-year-old actor, known for his action-packed roles, had been residing in the U.K. while filming his latest Mission: Impossible installment. However, after completing the shoot for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, Cruise has decided to return to his home country.

Born in Syracuse, New York, Cruise had been living in the U.K. for an extended period to finish the highly anticipated action sequel. According to Mail Online, the final scenes for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two wrapped on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Cruise left the set in style, flying off from Battersea in his helicopter the same day.

An insider revealed to The Sun that Cruise’s return to the U.S. is not permanent, leaving the door open for future projects. “No doubt he’ll be back at some point when he greases the wheels for the next Mission: Impossible outing,” the source shared. Despite his move, it seems likely that the actor will return to the U.K. for future installments of the successful franchise.

While his time in the U.K. has come to an end for now, Cruise is looking forward to being closer to his family and friends back in the U.S. The source added, “Cruise is looking forward to returning to the U.S. to be closer to his son Connor and his friends.” This desire for reconnection with his loved ones was a key factor in his decision to move back.

Cruise’s recent work in the Mission: Impossible series has been a significant part of his career. The first part of Dead Reckoning was released in June 2023, grossing an impressive $570.6 million worldwide. The success of this film has built anticipation for the sequel, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, also known as Mission: Impossible 8, which is set to hit theaters in 2025.

As Cruise returns to the U.S., fans can look forward to seeing him reprise his role as Ethan Hunt once more in the upcoming release. While his U.K. chapter may have closed for now, Cruise’s international film career shows no signs of slowing down, and fans are eagerly awaiting his next adventure.
