President Joe Biden earned applause from some on Sunday when he pardoned his son, Hunter, but MAGA fans were outraged.
Donald Trump responded by using the pardon as a means to amplify his calls to free Jan. 6 rioters from their criminal prosecutions.
Former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang said of the decision, “Joe Biden pardoning Hunter looks bad but most fathers would do the same thing under the circumstances.”
Pershing Square Capital Management CEO Bill Ackman responded to Yang, asking, “What kind of person would lie repeatedly about never pardoning their son and respecting the outcome of the courts when running for office and then pardon him once they withdrew their candidacy?”
“How would you describe this kind of person?” Ackman added.
Fringe-right Trump ally Laura Loomer responded to Ackman’s question, saying, “I would call them a pathological liar and a career criminal.”
“JOE BIDEN IS A FAILED FATHER WITH A CRACK HEAD SON WHO SLEPT WITH HIS DEAD SON’S WIFE AND GOT RICH OFF HIS FATHER BEING VP AND PRESIDENT,” she wrote on Sunday.
Former GOP staffer Mike Davis, who has made headlines for his social media comments in the past, and was rumored to be on Trump’s list for attorney general, said, “Dear President Biden: You should also pardon all of your other corrupt family members.
“Bank records subpoenaed by [James Comer] make crystal clear they took over $20 million from shady foreign actors,” Davis added Sunday.
Republican Senator Josh Hawley said, “Never forget: while Hunter was selling access to ‘the big guy,’ Joe Biden’s administration sent SWAT teams to the homes of prolifers; recruited spies in Catholic parishes; treated parents as domestic terrorists; and prosecuted Trump.”
